Hello Friends!
Here's a Vinyl news update for you all. We are now into May (time flew right by) and in the 1st 4 1/2 months of 2009, FV has played a wopping 43 shows. We've been rockin' every weekend ALL over SoCal and beyond and we've gained a few more great new residencies along the way. We also played our 1st Relay for Life Cancer Benefit at UC Irvine, and even a cool car show in Ventura! When I first formed this band in 2007, we had our 1st performance on May 31st of that year in Santa Clarita. We've come a LONG way. Last November, we celebrated our 100th show and tonight at Joxer Daly's is alread our 150th show. In fact "new" band member and vocalist, Denise has played over 60 shows and "new" band member and bassist, Gene has done over 50 shows. We have about 120 songs that we have been crafting, perfecting, and Vinylizing our audiences with. We put our own twists into these classic cover songs and have been getting great responses from our Vinyl-Heads and Vinylettes. We intentionally never do the same show twice and our setlists are always so different. Our musicianship and experience has us at a level where we are not only loved by audiences but respected by our peers. In the next month, we will be recording some new cover tunes and can't wait. There are also many clips of us on youtube and our www.myspace.com/forevervinylband website. We finally got FV womens t-shirts about a month ago and they have been selling very well. We just got another order of FV hats which will be available for purchase along with the t-shirts at any of our many live shows. We also can't forget about and thank Lady T for being our #1 Vinylette and official photographer. You can find hundreds of her great FV photos on our myspace. So friends, as we look ahead to another summer of rock and roll, we look forward to playing even more new venues, weekend shows in Big Bear and performances at the Ventura County fair. Most of all, thank you for your support of our band and we hope to see more and more of you at our shows. Rock on!
Thank you!
Thanks for the shout out! I am so honored to be your official photographer and I am so happy to be your #1 Vinylette!! ;^)
I love rockin out with you guys n gal ;^) every weekend! I always have fun!
Cheers for a Rockin Summer! I know it will be HOT!
Lots of love,
Lady T

FV Exceeds Expectations
Monday, March 9th, 2009 08:56 AM (PST) by Jumper (band member)
Hello Friends,
After playing 3 shows in 4 days and finally acheiving the band sound I've been striving for, I would like to take a moment of reflection. As I finished up my BA degree in Dec of 2006, I had the goal of creating a fun, unique, energetic band playing great songs of the last 50 years. When I co-founded this band with original bassist/vocalist, Kevin, we were just an acoustic duo rehearsing Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel songs. We soon decided we wanted to rock out and added OG Drummer, Carl and started learning 50's-90's Rock tunes. We played a few gigs in May-July '07 which was very exciting for us. Then in August of 2007, we found Lead Guitarist James, which made us a Rockin' 4 piece. His playing became and is always a focal point of our live shows and recordings. In '07 we played several gigs at the Hermosa Saloon, Mickie Finnz, and a big thrill was to play closing night @ the old Pitcher House with Tres Hombres. In 2008 we ammassed a songlist of over 100 great tunes and honed our stage show. We played an amazing 80 shows in 2008 all over Southern Ca and beyond. Some highlights other than the many great clubs, were playing in my hometown (Pismo Beach) 3 times, headlining a benefit, playing on a trailer in a parade, and playing to thousands at the Huntington Beach 4th of July Festival. In April 2008, our great drummer and friend, Brad left the band to move back home. We had difficulty finding the right drummer from April-Sept. Within this time we were gigging alot but co-founder, Kevin quit the band in Aug 2008. After difficulties finding a bass player that could sing, we were lucky enough to find Denise, a talented and versitile vocalist and stage performer. Right away she fearlessly stepped in and the sound of Forever Vinyl change in a dramatic great way. Our repetoir expanded greatly and we knew this was magic. Shortly after we were lucky to find Drummer extrodinaire Tod "Mr. T". T brough a hard rock look and edge to our playing and we became a band to remember in SoCal! The final key to our band came in Nov 2008 with the addition of Gene "Groove Daddy" on bass. We are now so lucky to have a fantastic rhythm section, diverse vocals, awesome stage energy, and people just seem to love us. We've gotten countless positive feedback in the last 6 months from patrons like "you are the best cover band I have ever seen" and "I've been watching bands here for 25 years and you are in the top 5, easy", and several "you are the best house band they have at this club". Those compliments mean so much to me and the rest of the band. We strive to be the best and each member is a top level musician that appreciates entertaining our audiences with great songs. As of March 9, 2009 we have a wopping 18 residencies and counting and have already played over 20 shows in just 9 weeks! We also have nearly 50 videos on our website and on youtube. Another highlight for me was having a VERY famous songwriter/musician come to our show in 2009. Having an idol of mine, watching our great band play was a great honor to me. And after being able to talk to this talented man between sets, I realized how people can stay so grounded and friendly even after fame and fortune has come and the bottom line is you have to just love the music you play (and we do). What an incredible feeling having a person who has written 7 top 10 International Hit songs, tell me that it brough him back great memories walkin into our set and hearing us play Long Train Runnin'. This was one of the songs he used to play with his band before they were famous and were starting out playing covers in pubs in the late 1970's. Can you say "holy Sh*t" or what? In just 2 years this band has played 130 shows and has far exceeded my expectations and dreams. Man, I think the only thing left to surprise me is if Paul McCartney sat in with us...And at this rate, I would not doubt that as a possibility! Rock on Forever Vinyl!
Shawn
The Morning After
Monday, January 12th, 2009 04:08 PM (PST) by Denise (band member)
As I awoke this morning from FOUR STRAIGHT NIGHTS of rockin’ with Forever Vinyl, my mind was filled with wonderful memories of all the amazing people we met and the new or not-new-but-well-loved venues we played. We are getting such great feedback from the patrons, bartenders, owners/managers/bookers that we are playing for, and we really appreciate it! Last night, Lewis, the Manager (and peach of a guy) of the Keynote Lounge, described our performance as “electrifying”! Both our audition gigs – Callahan’s (a great bar with fun people) and the Keynote (ditto) resulted in on-the-spot multiple bookings! Thank you so much, Kathy and Lewis!
Friday night at Pelican Isle with opening act Dave Rayburn was so fun! Pelican Isle is a beautiful restaurant / bar with great-smelling food (I didn’t get a chance to try any), fun dancin’ peeps, and the Manager Doug was soo nice to us!
Saturday night at Season Ticket … after starting acoustically due to some undoubtedly full moon related incidents and technical difficulties … was off the hook! Jon Krueger covered the skins portion of our rhythm section for us, Sarah Anderson and Dave the Best Bartender in Simi rocked with us on a couple of songs, and the dance floor was packed all night! We love that!
We, the members of Forever Vinyl, have really meshed and are having a blast playing together – and playing for you! Be sure to keep in touch via this website as well as www.myspace.com/forevervinylband for the latest pictures and VIDEO (we have new videos up on MySpace now), and of course, our dates so that you can pleasure us with your company at a future show!
What a great start to 2009 – looking forward to seeing YOU soon!
~Denise
It's hard work being Roc...
It's hard work being Rockstars but so worth it when we play to awesome crowds all over Southern California. It's alway great to Vinylize (play for the 1st time) to new venues and peeps! Tour 2009 has begun with a BANG!
2009 Tour Coming To Your Town

Hello Vinylheads and Vinylettes,
After honing our craft in 2008 with 80 shows, we are gonna have an action-packed 2009 tour that gives you a chance to see us ALL over SoCal. We already have 64 weekend shows booked in 2009 including 3 full residencies (once a month) at The Slam Dunk (Whittier), Season Ticket (Simi Valley), Bull Pen (Redondo Beach) and Perq's (Huntington Beach). We also have assorted shows at returning venues in '09(Bar Melody, The Londoner, Pelican Isle, Route 66 Roadhouse and Brennan's Pub). We have been asked to play at some new venues too so you can see us for the 1st times at The Olde Ship (Santa Ana), Godmothers Saloon (San Pedro), Callahan's (Azusa), Red Fox Sports Bar (Cypress), Pelican Isle (Sunset Beach), Keynote Lounge (Ventura) and Zina's (Torrance). We have a kick-ass line up which is the best we've ever had. 5-piece rock band that can do anything from oldies to disco to funk to blues to alt rock to punk to hard rock to country to surf music! We can play all styles and play them well. Over 120 songs and counting so we can keep the people dancing 3 straight nights without ever repeating a song. And we have great personalities and high stage energy. So come down to a show or two next year and you just many become a "groupie" (we have several already). Most of our shows are 21+ but rarely have a cover charge. We are the ultimate cover band experience so don't miss out in 2009!!

Milestone show & Return to Pitcher House
Monday, November 10th, 2008 02:13 PM (PST) by Jumper (band member)
Hello Friends,
For those of you who missed our awesome 100th milestone show, here's a recap...
Our 100th show was last Saturday, Nov 8th at one of our many residencies, The Season Ticket in Simi Valley. We are extremly proud of our acheivement and in only 16 months time! We had a great turnout of friends, family, and fellow musicians. 3 members of the band 'Glass' were in attendance, including original Forever Vinyl Drummer/Pounder, Carl Belknap. Carl sat in with the band on 60's classics "Pipeline" and "You Really Got Me". Then we added Glass lead singer, Jay and did a rousing redition of "Gloria". The fun didn't stop there as the band was in fine form and rockin' the joint with pure Forever Vinyl music. We also had Blue Lion Project drummer, Jon who came all the way from Huntington beach for this special show. Jon has played some shows with us in 2008 and sat in on 2 songs, "Word Up" and "You Shook Me All Night Long". There were also cupcakes given out (thanks to Lady-T )to everyone at the bar and they were yummy. So for those of you who support our band, thank you for your support during our 1st 100 shows. Come on out as we will be at 200 shows in no time!
Also, we will be returning to The Pitcher House in Redondo Beach after a few months break. Come down after X-mas, on Saturday, Dec 27th and lets have a pre-New-Years party! Rock On!!

Hello Vinylhead and Vinylettes,
Got lots of news to share with you about the band as it's been a very busy 2008 and lots have changed in the last 2 months. 1st of all those who missed our late Aug and Sept shows have missed our new and improved line-up and sound. In addition to Denise on Vocals, we have added bass extrodenaire, Gene Simons on bass and vocals. Gene has many years experience in cover bands and has a great positive attitude. We have also recently added the Amazing Todd "T" Burr on drums. He is definatly has the rock star look and chops! This current line-up is the best the band has ever had and we hope to keep it in tact for a long time (cross-fingers). It's been a tough and time-consuming task trying to replace Brad (who left the drum position in April) but Tod's talents and energy adds a new level to the band!
We've just added 4 venues to our residencies (Bar Melody, Season Ticket in Simi, The Londoner in Santa Clarita and Perq's in Huntington Beach). We are excited about these new residencies and people seem to love our new band members. We have just completed our new demo, two of which feature Denise on Lead Vocals, one featuring James, and one Shawn. Tod and Gene will be on the next recording session for sure! So we are looking to play even more dates in 2009 and have 20 shows booked already.
So finally we'd like to announce that Forever Vinyls 100th show will be celebrated on November 8th in Simi Valley @ Season Ticket (9pm-1am). Woo-hoo!!!!We are super excited about this milestone and would like to thanks all you devoted fans, friends, family, and former members for helping us acheive this in only our first 16 months as a band. An Evite will be sent to all of you on our mailing list and hope you can attend the festivities on Nov 8th.

So for those of you who have been to our recent live shows, you may have noticed that we have a female singer! FV has brough on female vocalist Denise Barnard to the group. Her amazing vocal range and stage energy has helped put this seasoned band into the top of the Cover Band scene. We've got alot of 2008 shows left so come on down to one or more of our shows and we'll show you what we've got!

Sunday, April 6th, 2008 11:11 AM (PST) by Jumper (band member)

Hats off to the VFW and the psychobilly kids
Sunday, March 30th, 2008 02:53 AM (PST) by Rusty (band member)
I'm still wound up from our gig that ended just a few hours ago. We played the VFW hall in Norwalk. My first ever VFW gig. VFW stands for Veterans of Foreign Wars, and to be a VFW member you not only have to have been in the military but also saw combat. It was a real honor to play for these guys (and gals) that literally put their lives on the line for us. In fact our own Kevin was in the Air Force, Shawn's dad was in the Navy, and my dad was an Army vet. And as expected, they were an awesome group of people.
Right next door there was a psychobilly concert with several bands playing. You could literally hear them through the walls at the VFW hall when we were between songs. Psychobilly is an awesome style of music that has it's roots in both Punk and Rockabilly. Probably too hard-core for your mainstream crowd, but if you've heard The Cramps (who in turn were a major influence of the now popular White Stripes) or even The Stray Cats, they're considered a precursor to this style. I popped my head in before we started and caught a few songs from one of the bands. They were a 3-piece. Looked like the drummer may have been standing, rockabilly style. The bass player was on a stand-up bass, slapping rockabilly style. And the guitar player on a hollow body electric witha real heavy sound. It was pretty cool. All the kids were either wearing mohawks or donning the retro 50's or goth look.
So by about our second set or so a bunch of the kids from next door started spilling into the VFW hall. At least a couple dozen of them stuck around and were seriously into what we were doing. They came right up to the stage and together we ("we" being the band *and* the VFW's *and* the psychobilly kids) rocked the hell out of the place. I just thought that was the coolest thing. Had the a major dose of what I call the "audience/band feedback loop" happening -- which is when the crowd feeds off the band's energy, and in turn the band feeds off the crowd's energy, back and forth ad infinitum. Just takes you to another place.
That was one of those gigs I'll probably never forget.
~Rusty
Some psychobilly to check out
Been digging around youtube. Check these out:
The Quakes
The Sharks
Guana Batz
The Meteors
Demented Are Go
This song, Gargoyles Over Copenhagen, has to be added to our halloween songlist:
Nekromantix
Reverend Horton Heat. Even the Reverend did a song about it.
Mad Sin
I concur
Who would've thought that the rockabilly kids that originally went there to see the young bands play, would flock to us oldie but goodies? It's a testament to our skill level as a band.
Compliments & Acknowledgement
Monday, March 24th, 2008 09:10 AM (PST) by Jumper (band member)
The best feedback this band can get is all of those great compliments we've been getting from you at our many shows. For the last 3 months we've received some great praise for our performances. Some people have said, "You played that better than Led Zeppelin", and "You made that cover song your own, even better than the original". My favorite complement came last Saturday at Judge Roy Beans. We were told," You sound better than The Police (on Message In A Bottle). These compliments and positivity is what we aim for when we are learning and fine-tuning these songs every Wednesday in James' living room. We really appreciate all your feedback! Lastly, the Vinyl-heads and other band members would like to acknowledge band member, James "Rusty" Avgeris. He has been with the band 7 months now. It seems as once 2008 came, his guitar playing has climbed to a new level and he's on fire. Everyone loves to hear his great solos and funky rhythms. A show never goes by without someone in the audience ranting and raving how good "that lead guitarist" is. James has several signature songs including the cool reggae "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" and the blistering Jimi Hendrix song, "Little Wing". Also, he gets the peeps up and dancing on the funkadelic "Sex Machine" and the country-rock "Keep Your Hands To Yourself". We are lucky to have such a great musician and friend in this band. The rewards of this band is so numerous, it's no doubt that Forever Vinyl will be entertaining audiences for a long, long, time.

Humbled
Yea Shawn, it's been an amazing ride so far hasn't it. 7 months already? Wow. Man I'm so humbled and thankful to be part of this. I'm blown away by how much this band just continues to grow, both as individuals and as a unit. It's awesome. And inspiring. Keeps me wanting to up the ante.
Thanks so much for the shout out and the props. It really means a lot. And truth be told, all you guys deserve the accolades as much as I do, if not more.

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008 09:56 AM (PST) by Jumper (band member)
Hey-yo,
After traveling all the way to Fullerton and Pismo Beach last weekend, the band is doing local Valley shows this Friday and Saturday at Judge Roy Beans in Simi Valley. It's very rare that the band gets to perform this close to home. This is the only bar in Simi for good music and dancing and the shows are gonna be alot of fun. It's right off the 118 FWY at Tapo Canyon and we play 8:30pm-12:30am both Friday and Saturday. There is no cover charge so bring your dancing shoes and we'll see you there!
